Techies - A Little Less Versatile

The Goblin Techies – Squee, Spleen, and Spoon – used to cover more roles rather than just planting mines all over the place. After the DOTA 2 gameplay update 6.84 and (especially) 6.85, having the damage of each of their mines reduced by 50% gives Techies little to no choice to adopt another role than a passive nuker.
With a 150-damage-dealing land mine on level 1, Techies are required to plant more bombs without being interrupted by enemy heroes. Although it does help when the cool down and mana cost was reduced by 50%, but the update does not allow for land mines to be stacked on top of each other anymore.
This means, Techies players needs to plan a better positioning strategy when utilising a combo with Vengeful Spirit's nether swap or Pudge's hook, so that all the mines would hit the target inside the full-damage radius.
Techies players are also forced to play more off-lane battles, focusing on their mana regeneration and mana pool. With Techies' suicide-squad damage reduced, the team-plays that Techies could do are getting more and more limited. Gone are the Legion/Tusk-Techies combos, since both Legion Commander and Tusk needs 500-650++ damage to secure kills after reaching level 6.
Overall, Techies players now need to increase their expertise on mine-placements, hence are demanded to build items such as Aghanim's Scepter or Bloodstone, which are not included as a core item before the update. Although it is true that the update enhances the plays that Techies could perform using their basic role, it is still arguable whether it is worth compared to the lack in versatility.
