From Dota to Dota2

Dota, which is also known as Defense of the Ancients, is a custom map created for Warcraft 3. Later, the unique game gains amazing popularity for its playability and competitive character. Many of the elements are borrowed from Warcraft 3 and of course based on Warcraft engine.

From my point of view, the biggest difference is these two games are based on different engines. Unlike Dota, Dota2 is based on Soursce engine and is created by Value instead of Blizzard. Besides,Dota2 offers a build-in platform where players can play on.

Although there are a lot of other differences inside the game, it is the new game engine and the new platform that makes the wonderful evolution.
